Christmas Gift Ideas For Parents

Finding those perfect Christmas gifts for your parents can be challenging. You want the gift to say I am thinking of you, I know what you like (this is not a generic re-gift) and you want the gift to impress, if only just a little bit. Yet, when it comes to buying gifts for our parents, it can be challenging.

Most parents seem to have everything they want. Most parents also have enough money to buy what they want. Where does that leave us in the shopping department? Sometimes, it leaves us at a lost. But if we really think about those gifts before we go shopping, we can come up with some really interesting presents that parents are sure to love. Here are a few examples to get you started.

Hobbies: Does mom like to sew? Does dad like to fish or hunt? You may think they have all the tools for their favorite hobbies. But think, again. New equipment and new stuff are always coming onto the market. Buy dad that new lure and reel? Buy mom some new patterns or even a newer, fancier sewing machine with all the extras. Do not settle on buying more of the hobby products you know they all ready have.

Food and other treats: Parents are like everyone else, they love to eat and they have their favorite treats. Why not check out the many gift baskets available both in stores and online (that can be delivered right to your door or your parents’ door)? You can buy these food gift baskets that contain many fine luxury items such as: dark chocolates, fine wines, gourmet cheeses and crackers. Plus, you add tempting breads, nuts, muffins, cookies and cakes to those baskets. Be sure the basket itself is nice. Mom may want to reuse it for decorating or storage purchases.

Useful services: Does dad hate to mow? Is mom tired of washing those windows? You could hire a service to come in and do those chores for mom and dad. They can be assigned to come as often as you can afford or as often as mom and dad prefers. Imagine the burden it will lift off all their shoulders to see the work being done, without them having to do it?

Mini-vacations or trips to the day spa: Would dad enjoy a mini vacation, near a golf course? Would mom like a mini vacation in a day spa? With a little bit of searching, you are sure to find both entertaining and relaxing treats for both of them. Imagine their pleasure of getting away and doing something that makes them happy. Do not worry about not having anything to wrap in a pretty box. You can always wrap the reservation tickets.

Remember when it comes to buying Christmas gifts for your parents, actually think about your parents and what they would like, not what they need or what is expected. If you do that, then the ideas should start flowing.

Christmas Gifts for Neighbors: 15 Ideas for Sweet and Simple Gifts

The more holiday cheer we can spread, the better, especially in our own neighborhoods.

Here are some ideas for simple, sweet, inexpensive gifts that are just right.

1. Holiday Cookies. Carve out a day to spend with your favorite ladies, and bake away. Pool your recipes and divvy up the goodies into gift bags or decorative plastic gift trays at the end of the day.

2. Have a stack of classic chocolates on hand. My kids’ school has a fundraiser in September so we can buy just such incidental gifts, along with gift wrap. If you don’t have such a fundraiser in your neighborhood, you might think about starting one. (Innisbrook.com handles ours.) If you are just looking for some yummy chocolates to stock up on, Ferrero Rocher is a big favorite, and these chocolates can be purchased inexpensively in beautiful holiday arrangements at most discount stores. It’s nice to have a stack of extra gifts like these in the cabinet during the holidays, when you never know when you’ll need an extra gift.

3. A bottle of your favorite (and relatively inexpensive) wine.

4. A journal and a nice pen. It’s nice to have a special place to record their favorite personal thoughts of family memories.

5. Homemade crafts. If you’re a scrapbooker, make a mini holiday album. If you love to sew, fashion some new placemats or potholders. And if you are not craft inclined, shop for neighborhood gifts at your local holiday craft fair. These are great for finding inexpensive holiday gifts that are often just sentimental enough.

6. Favorite fixin’s. Combine the dry ingredients of your favorite sugar cookie recipe in a plastic bag and slide it into an inexpensive Christmas stocking. Print the baking ingredients on a festive tag, and use a pretty ribbon to tie it to the stocking, along with a holiday cookie cutter.

7. Fresh flowers. A simple bouquet of flowers, artfully arranged, is always welcome, especially when it arrives with a heartfelt note. Potted plants are wonderful, too.

8. Wreaths or poinsettias. There’s always room for more holiday greenery.

9. Gift certificates for your local favorite coffee house, café, or soup restaurant.

10. Movie tickets (and if the family has young children, throw in an offer to babysit, too.)

11. An assortment of candles in festive shades and aromas, or an aromatherapy diffuser and essential oils. Scents of peppermint and cinnamon are especially lovely this time of year.

12. A personalized ornament for the neighbor’s holiday tree.

13. Simple photo albums or photo frames that match your neighbor’s décor.

14. An inspiring book of quotes or meditations.

15. A simple note telling each neighbor what they bring to your life and how much you value their friendship.

Happy holidays from our neighborhood to yours!

Christmas Gifts

Christmas is not only the season to be jolly but also the best time to share and give. Gift giving has always been associated with Christmas. Just imagine how dull Christmas will be without gifts. For sure, you would not like the sight of your Christmas tree without any gifts underneath it.

If you have trouble picking the right Christmas gifts for your loved ones, you don’t have to worry because you are not alone in this. Most people also experience difficulty finding the right gifts not because they do not have the money to purchase expensive ones but because they want to see to it that the gifts they give please the recipients.

So, before you begin Christmas shopping, first you have to make the list of people to whom you will give a gift. The list can include your mother, father, spouse, children, brother, sister, and also your closest friends. After listing down their names, you have to think about the interests and hobbies of each person so you have a slight idea about what to give them. For example, if your mom loves baking, perhaps you can buy her a new set of baking pans. If your child loves to play with dolls, then you can consider looking for a nice walking and talking doll.

Aside from the ready-to-buy Christmas gifts that you can get, you can also exert some effort and use your skills to craft self-made gifts that your loved ones will surely be glad to receive. Some of the simple things that you can do are wooden framed cross-stitch pictures, scented candles or soaps, handmade bags, and baked cookies and goodies. These are not only very affordable but since you exerted effort to make them, they will be more appreciated than those ready-to-buy gifts.

Christmas indeed would never be complete without gift giving. However, you should always remember that the true essence of this season is still the birth of Jesus Christ in the manger, which is the most wonderful gift of all time.
